Long Island teachers- ? About bedrest
After yesterday and still feeling contractions today I have this fear that I'll be put on bedrest next week to get me to 37 weeks. Now my question is how will this affect my maternity leave? I only have 33 sick days banked so I'm limited. I won't get paid for disability, will I?

It depends on how your district is... I'm out on bed rest, but only have 15 days banked. I have to exhaust all of my days, go 30 calendar days of no-pay and then the faculty in the district to get me through the bed rest and the 6-8wks maternity leave. On day 31 I get a retro-check and am put back on payroll.
I would speak to a union rep that handles FMLA and Maternity Leave situations (if your district has a union) or the Supt. of Personnel to find out what the district policy is...
