Locking gate with a pool
We are having a pool and new fence installed. With a pool in the back yard, I think we have to keep the gates (there will be two gates) locked. DH thinks it will be annoying to have to unlock the gate everytime we want to go from the front yard to back. If you have a pool, what do you do about the gate - locked or not? (We do not have any small children in our home. I'm more worried about "intruders" coming into our yard when we are not home).

Re: Locking gate with a pool
My parents always had it locked. DH's parent's... anyone could walk in their yard and hop in the pool. I would want them locked, DH thinks its not necessary and annoying. When we eventually get a pool, it will be a fight! haha
I am thinking we will end up with a pool gate with a lock and leave the yard gates alone.

Is that fence just around your pool with another fence around the yard? Or is that the fence around your whole yard?

Re: Locking gate with a pool
We have a fence around our pool that is always locked. This only happened when we saw DS#1 get a stool and reach up to the pole that you push down to open. (around 4 years old)
Our fence to the front yard is always unlocked.

Just around the pool. We have another fence around the yard. When we bought the house the old owners only had a fence around the pool.

Locking gate with a pool
If you only have a fence around the yard and not a separate fence around the pool, what would you do about locking the gate?

I would lock it. We have a fence around the yard unlocked, but e have a separate fence around the pool that I lock when we aren't home and at night,

Re: Locking gate with a pool
We have a 6 foot PVC fence with a key lock and also a fence around the pool that locks when closed. easily opened by adult but not smaller child.
