Livingroom Inspiration Help.
Here is our current livingroom (previous owners furniture)
We are intending on taking all of that green paneling down and re-sheetrocking. Also putting white painted wood for the mantle on top of the fireplace and white molding around the sides of the fireplace, as well as around the window and sliding glass doors.
We currently have furniture in this room, we are going to be putting it up for sale, and getting all new furniture for our livingroom - we are keen on the chocolate brown or slightly lighter than chocolate brown furniture.
I am unsure of color, decorations, ANYTHING or ANY input that you can give me would be great.
We have a BBQ in our home 9/20 and DH has already promised as soon as the last guest is OUT - we can rip down paneling and begin construction that night

Re: Livingroom Inspiration Help.
i think maybe all white fireplace - even the brick would look nice.....i've seen them do that before on HGTV shows and it always looks really nice and a little more contemporary....
maybe a neutral wall color? tans? taupes? that would look nice with chocolate couches and with the carpeting....

Id love to re-do the stone on the bottom as well in all white marble and white all around it - really make it modern - I am intending on going to Lowes this week and picking up a few of those small cans of paint and painting a small patch in a few different colors... Thanks

Check out YoungHouseLove.com These youngsters have done some great work on their home. Hopefully you will be inspired by them just like I have.
Also check out the following sites. DecorPad.com
HouseBeautiful.com
These sites have some great inspiration. If you love chocolate brown and tans, I love slate blue with that. So a white fireplace, all white trim around the windows, and slate blue on the walls.....I think that would look gorgeous. GL!

Re: Livingroom Inspiration Help.
i actually don't mind the paneling. i would add crown molding and if you do not like the green color, paint the walls. if keeping the rug, i would paint the walls a tan and add an area rug. i agree with painting the brick a white wash.

Re: Livingroom Inspiration Help.
We re-did our LR 2 years ago. The fireplace was red brick, no mantle, and the wall it was on was wood planks. Instead of painting the fireplace (I am not a fan of the look) we refaced it with stone tile, refaced the hearth with a different stone and my DH & dad built a mantle (along with about 30 other updates LOL).
We painted the room a silvery-blue-gray (BM Adagio - it has become quite popular on the boards ) and the sofa & drapes are a chocolate brown.
Before (original owner's furnishings):
After - fireplace:
