listing on MLSLI after contract
is there a "rule" on when the house listing has to come down? is it after contract or after closing?
i personally don't care, the only way the sellers could get out of the contract is if we don't qualify for a mortgage, but i am just curious.

Re: listing on MLSLI after contract
The house can still be listed on MLS until you go to closing. It's not a done deal until closing so the homeowner can choose to keep the home listed until closing if they wish

Re: listing on MLSLI after contract
The Real Estate Agent has to take it off and it is usually after the contract is signed by both parties.

Re: listing on MLSLI after contract
I think some realtors leave the houses on so that they get phone calls and can show other houses...that is just my opinion because that is how we found our house we bought. We called about another house that was already in contract and had been in contract for over a month. I do not think there is any rule that they have to take it down because as a PP said its not a done deal until they sign the deed. Sellers/Buyers can always cancel the deal.

I don't know what the rule is, but ours came down shortly after we were in full contract.

Re: listing on MLSLI after contract
I work as as receptionist in a RE office. When our listing goes into contract we fill in on MLS that it is under contract & it will reflect in the status that realtors see on the site that the house is under contract. I believe that it stays on the site for search purposes until after it is closed though, but I'm not 100% sure.

The house that we are in the process of buying now, came off MLS after we were in contract...we still do not have a closing date yet

Ditto.
and my sale sign does not say "in contract" or "sold" but my neighbor who is also selling has "sold" on it.

This is correct. One the contract is signed by both parties, it comes off of MLSLI and it is then in "pending" status. (which can be seen on listingbook.com if you're a member) The once the closing takes place, it immediately goes to "sold" and then you can view it under "sold properties" on MLSLI.

Re: listing on MLSLI after contract
my house came off mlsli about a week after we were in full contract - i still see it "for sale" on zillow. the sign in our yard is still up - my agent told me it would be down last week but its still up, at this rate the new owners might have to take it down themselves
