LIRR-is it reliable?
I am goign to start using the LIRR-would you say that it is reliable or should I just take a bus and transfer to regular subway

LIRR is defnitely more reliable than a bus. bus you're sittining traffic. yes the LIRR can have delays and bad weather can delay trains, but i have to say for the most part, they are on time 90% of the time. Also, it would be much quicker than a bus to a subway.

as public transport goes, it's very reliable... much more so than buses and some subway lines....

If by reliable do you mean is it on time when it is raining, or snowing, or foggy...Then no. But buses probably wouldn't be either.
