LIJ Maternity ward

I posted this on pregnancy but felt I might get a better response over here

What is the deal with the rooms at LIJ? I will be there in January, most likely before the new wing opens. I am a little nervous about the 4 person rooms, 2 person rooms etc. My Dr only delivers at LIJ New Hyde park so I don't have any other options. If you did pay OOP for a private, how much was it per night? What were your recent experiences there?

i had 3 dc there, my youngest is 6 mo. wiht #1 and #2, i had a 2 people room. i did not have roomates all the time, definitly not, but most of the time for sure. it was fine. i had the window bed both times, it was a little better. shared bathroom.
with #3, i had a private room- we didn't pay for it (DH works there, and it was super crowded, private room was empty, os they gave us that for free. i think otherwise i was going to go upstairs, where the bedrest/preterm labors mothers are). it was awesome, but i'm not sure i would have paid for it. you still share a bathroom.
not sure what the deal is with 4 people roomss,sorry.
