Does anyone know if you can take a hospital tour there WITHOUT taking any of their other childbirth classes?
Also, is there a fee?
We are taking Bradley classes so dont want the child classes, but I would like a tour of LIJ.

Yes, you can. Im doing just a tour at North Shore ( I actually jsut made the appointment today) but one of my firends did just a tour at LIJ.

I called today and you can take a tour no problem - dont even need to sign up, just need to know the dates they offer them. The next one is Monday at 7 pm.

the tour is free. just call and find out the dates and show up.
we did ours about 2 weeks ago. a woman meets with everyone in the lobby and goes over a few things. what entrance to come in, what floor to go to when in labor, how to check in, where to park, what to have with you etc.
then they show you how to get to the labor floor and they show you the labor and delivery room, the room where you'd stay as well as the nursery.
its just to get you familiar with what your surroundings would be. im sure its not mandatory but it will give you a little piece of mind

Thanks, jackie! It's definitely something I'm interested. I have no clue what floor or where to even enter to go to L&D!

When you call, they will tell you. We met in the lobby and then they took you over to the 3rd floor for the tour.
They know who you are since you are the one with the big fat belly around the time they scheduled it.
Not sure if the new ward will be open by then. The whole tour was maybe 30 minutes. I started getting teary eyed in the L&D room. Just a heads up.
