LIIVF vs. ECF

This will be my first time posting anything on a forum, so please bear with me.

I have been TTC for 15m and have done 4 IUI's at LIIVF with Dr. Droesch. I am on D2 of my cycle and am suppose to start my BCP tomorrow. I went for a second consultation @ ECF w/ Dr. Kreiner and he informed me that I shouldnt take the BCP b/c my FSH is 11.9. I was thinking of staying w/ LIIVF and switching to Dr. K but now I dont know if I should just switch practices all together to ECF with Dr. Kreiner. Is it true that the BCP with halt my development of follicles? I feel like I'm going crazy!! Too many decisions!! I need advise.

some people will say that is true, I had a better response on BCP than I did on microdose lupron. Chat Icon

Re: LIIVF vs. ECF

First off, every RE has his/her own protocol and for one to offer an opinion on anothers is wrong, IMO.
He could have suggested talking to your RE about it, but to tell you to stop taking them....
Both the Lupron and the BCP are to suppress the system so there are no dominant follicles, so I don't even understand what Dr. Kreiner was saying.

IF I were you, I would call LIIVF and make an appointment with Dr. D to discuss it. Keep taking the BCP in the meanwhile and then see what she says. As the PP stated, some people respond better with Lupron as the suppresant than BCP. But, there should be a reason why Dr. D did what she did and you need to know that before making any other decisions.

Funny, I had that experience with Dr. K at LIIVF. And due to his rudeness I never even went on my consult with Pena. Stuck with my original guy, Dr. Flisser.

I am a patient of dr. K. i think the problem with dr k is that he really tells you how it is and does not sugar coat anything. for me, it is okay, I can deal with the sharpness of his personality. I can see why people would be turned off from him. I do, however, think he is an amazing dr and is finding ways to fix all of my prolems and my dh's as well.

I do wish you luck...i think we all have to be comfortable with our drs or it will never work out!!!

We had a similar experience with Dr Droesch-very nice at first but when we started questioning their methods for my specific circumstance she was not happy. I had the impression that they do a similar protocol for everyone no matter what the situation. But a lot of people on here are happy there-it all depends on what you are comfortable with. We went with Dr. Ruman at RMA and couldn't be happier with the clinic or the Dr's

Interesting enough, Dr. Ruman once was at LIIVF and left...despite being quite successful. That speaks volumes to me. She is very nice, she did a sono or two for me when Dr. Flisser was out. I agree, you have to comfortable with your doctor and office or staff or this would be even more unbearable to go through!

And Dr. K used to be at East Coast and left...apparently the Drs. don't all get along!!Chat Icon

I just want to thank everyone for the kind words and advise. I feel , as I'm sure much of you do, like I am on a roller coaster.

Today I went to LIIVF for my D3 bloods and the PA tried to give me a script for BCP. I told her that I wouldnt take them until I spoke with Dr. K on Wed. She totoally understood and said at least they will check my new levels. I received a call tonite on my voicemail that my FSH was at 2.4 but my estrogen level was OVER 200!! What the hell does that mean!! She also stated that a high level of estrogen makes the FSH false, but never told me what the estrogen level means. She also said Dr. Brenner reveiwed the results and said to speak to Dr. K on Wed about it. Oh yeah like I'm really gonna wait until Wednesday to try and find out what that means. I started reading some of my books today and it seems like it about weight over or under. But I'm 5'2" 113lbs. I wouldnt consider that over or underweight. This is just crazy!! Chat Icon !!!!

I have also heard negative things about Dr. Droesch. However, everyone who has used Dr. K and Dr. B were very happy. I would suggest switching to them instead of changing clinics.

That is what I'm leaning towards. It's so hard to make a decision b/c I want to make the "right" one. I have a mtg with dr. Keniinsberg on Wed. and an appt with Dr. Pena thurday. That will be Dr/ number 4. I really need to make a decision by Fri. Now with this new estogen problem I dont know what to think. I hope its the stress that I've been under the last week.

just wanted to add my 2 cents

I cannot comment on east coast , but Dr. Kreiner and Kenigsber used to work together at the beigining of LIIVF...the picture of the 2 of them in the former Port jeff office. It is a newspaper article from their early days at LIIVF when they began program at mather. Not sure why they split , but probably for the same reason many partnerships split up at one time or another.

I dont want to sound like an apologist for any rude office personel or doctor whether it is for an IVF clinic or another medical establishment but many of these places get "desensitized" to this entire process. They deal with many positive and negative outcomes and there demeanor at times can be interpreted as insensitive, unthoughtful etc........with that said they definately should be sympathetic to the needs and concerns of all there patients and remain professional!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the poster above who said Dr. KEnigsberg says it like it is.......we have used LIIVF 3 times ( 2BFP 1 BFN), in my opinion it is great for them to be optimistic and say things you like to hear but the truth is what matters. Whether it is good or bad. I personally have the utmost confidence in Dr. Kenigsberg as well as Dr. Brenner (do not know dr droesch too well, but im sure her clinical expertise is good, even though posters above say her "bed side manner may not be") and believe they will do everything possible to get those BFP'S.

Believe me they want those BFP's also to show how successful they are to attract other patients...so it can be a win-win

so im a LIIVF advocate.

MY opinion is to be carful switching from clinic to clinic soley on the outcome of your cycle....as you know too well this "science" is not exact and even if the doctors do everything right, it could still fail

good luck to all

ITA with this. You should go to where you feel most comfortable at. I also go to LI IVF and have met both Dr. K and Dr. B and believe they are pretty honest everything. No sugar coating at all which to me is good. I want to know what can and will possibly happen- good or bad.

I just wanted to thank you for your insight. I have decided to stay with LIIVF after I met with Dr. Keningsberg today. I liked all the information that he had given me. He also explained the differences between he and Dr. Kreiner. I dont think there is any love lost there. I do like the staf at LIIVF, although I dont like the misinformation one of the nurses had given me over the weekend. I guess no place is perfect. Chat Icon

Re: LIIVF vs. ECF

Maybe Dr K said you shouldn't be bothering with IUIs since your FSH is so high?

That's what my RE recommended to me -- AFTER I had bothered with an IUI at EC. We also had some MF.

I had to take BCP before the IVF cycle so I don't get why he told you not to take them.
