The actually dropping...does it happen over night or gradually???

everyone's different. I've heard gradual and overnight.

i've heard of both. some women i've spoken to say they dropped overnight, and others say it was a more gradual process.
i've been wondering about the whole "dropping" thing myself. i've been carrying very low for a long time, and my OB said at my last appt that the baby's head is "very low". so i'm wondering if i'm already "dropped" or if i can expect to drop even more? 
bottom line - i just wanna have this baby already, and i'm looking for any sign that labor is coming!!
