life jacket question
I need a recommendation for something for my son for the pool. He will be 2 in April and most of the life jackets I found are for 30lbs and he's only 27. Can I use that even if he isn't in the weight range? I really want something safe because we spend alot of time at my sil and her pool isnt fenced in. Any other suggestions please!

Re: life jacket question
I would get the puddle jumper. It should be fine for 27 pounds. Although, since you said the pool is not fenced in, and I assume the child is running around, not sure if this is the best option in case of an accident. It works great for swimming in a supervised situation.

Re: life jacket question
We Love the puddle jumper! My DD and all her friends also love them. I had dd in it just before the 30lb weight and she was fine. Also kept it on all day at the beach/pool.

Re: life jacket question
We used both last summer - i had a puddle jumper for when he was swimming and a life jacket for when he was running around
my son was about 27lbs last summer- the puddle jumper worked great when he was swimming. his arms would sometimes fall out if he did not have a long sleeve swim shirt on though we noticed
also I had the life jacket for up to 30 lbs for him last year and it fit fine. I ended up going to the next size becuae he fit better in it
the instructor at swim class said you can go up if they are close to an end of size
i also think it is important to test life jackets - make sure when you let go or drop your child in the water there head stays above the water and is floating more on their back
also i put a 3M hook right outside my back door - this way the life jacket could dry but was easy to grab when we went outside
