LI to Lancaster - stop along the way?
So we are heading to DW in Lancaster this weekend with two kiddies - one is a one year old who hates the car seat god help us with that!!
We live out east and the map quest said its 225 miles from our house to DW...we are hoping to drive pretty much straight through on saturday - will stop maybe once depending on the moods of the kiddies but on the way back on tuesday we might break up the trip a bit...any suggestions? maybe some where in jersey?
Do you all drive through? any suffolk moms drive direct without stopping? Thanks so much.

Re: LI to Lancaster - stop along the way?
We take the same drive quite frequently (did it 4x in 4 weeks )
We stop along the way at rest stops on the NJ Tpk. They are pretty clean and you can do potty breaks and grab a snack. It gets you out of the car and gets your blood circulating.
I recommend the DVD player for the car. Quite a worthwhile investment

CRAYOLA FACTORY!
We stopped on our way to Hershey this past june. I made the ride a breeze. Its about an hour and a half to the crayola factory, and then about another hour and a half from the factory to Hershey.
You can do the whole factory in like 2 hours or so, so its a quick, but fun stop.
Even if you dont stop and go straight through, its a really easy and quick drive. Its not so bad at all. We've done it two or three times already.

Re: LI to Lancaster - stop along the way?
We stopped by a mall in NJ along the way. There was a lot of traffic in NJ when we drove.
We drove from NYC and it felt like such a long drive. We weren't expecting so much traffic. I think it easily added an extra 2 hours.

The ride really wasn't bad (we went during the week) We stopped at a rest area for a snack and bathroom break.
If you want something to do, I definitley recommend Crayola Factory.

Re: LI to Lancaster - stop along the way?
we live in Lindenhurst. We had 3...2 10 month olds and a 3 yr old. We stoped once on the way there to go potty, it took us 2 and 1/2 hours even with that stop to get there.
On the way home we stopped for drinks and potty, it took us 4 hours with a LOT of stop dead traffic.
