The money is coming from a grant, so as I understood it it's happening regardless of the budget vote. My next door neighbor teaches K in Levittown and I'm pretty sure that's what she told me last month.

Oh that would be great. When i called about the board meeting I was talking to the district clerk and she said something about it being contingent on the budget passing (at time the board didn't approve the budget yet) Thanks Cathy!! I just hope we get it!

I am SHOCKED because a lot of districts that currently have full day are cutting back to half day next year.

We were told at orientation a couple weeks ago that its a 95pct chance it'll happen. And did have to be voted on in the budget even tho its not costing Levittown any $$$

Island Trees has nothing to do with Levittown school district. This grant was a long time coming, apparently the district has been fined the past few years for NOT having put the full day grant into effect until now.
What may change are the hours, due to rerouting of buses. Elementary may be starting at 9:10 and ending at 3:20 next year. Not definite yet though.

didnt hear about the hours. and yes they got fined along with all the other half day K's in other districts but yes it does have to do with grant and not the budget

This was just posted on the Q&A section of the school webpage:
" I understand that . Full-day kindergarten ...before school day care is not yet decided, but when will a decision be made with a definitive yes/no? Thanks
A. The Board has included the implementation of a full day kindergarten program beginning September 2011. There has not yet been any decision by the Board regarding full day kindergarten in the event that the budget does not pass. A self-sustaining by tuition early morning program is being considered by the Board of Education to be effective September 2011 and should be discussed at the May 10, 2011 Board meeting.
