Level 2-
Always something lately. Went for my 20 week anatomy scan today. One kidney is bigger with fluid. This is a soft marker for downs but since I had the MaternTI21 test and it was negative, it should be fine. But something could be wrong with his kidney. He said sometimes it goes away, sometimes it gets bigger. So I have to get another sono next month to monitor it.
Also, he wants me to get a fetal echo to check his heart because one side might be bigger than the other. He thinks it was just a bad view on the sono and my baby wasn't cooperating to get the view he needed. So he wants to be safe and get it checked out.
Anyone have this before, either with the heart or kidney? I'm scared but just telling myself all will be fine.
And baby is definitely a boy!

Level 2-
I am going through the same thing right now. I had my level 2 last Monday and both kidneys were retaining fluid. Of course they examined this is a marker for downs. Unfortunately I did not do the screening tests so I dont have anything to go by. So my dr did the verify test last week. (like the MaterniT 21). I am waiting for results. I am also scared there is something wrong with his kidney. I go back in 3 weeks for another sono to see if it has got worse.

Level 2-
My son had fluid in his kidneys that they first noticed at my level 2. It's something that is very common in boys. So, I was just monitored throughout my pregnancy via sonograms. Once the baby is born and they go to the bathroom for the first time, the fluid usually goes away. In my son's case, the fluid did not go away after he was born so they sent us for more tests (when he was about 2 months) to make sure he didn't have a blockage that was causing the fluid (which he didnt). He is now 2 1/2 years old, and he still does actually have the fluid and it's totally not even an issue at all. We bring him for a sonogram about once a year to make sure it's not getting any worse. Hope this helps!

Good luck with the test. My dr said it is very common, especially with boys, which is what I am having, not sure about you. I am going back in a few weeks to monitor the kidney too. Good luck and hugs!!

Re: Level 2-
My DD had the kidney thing. We had to go for a monthly Sono at the high-risk Dr to monitor. It got smaller, but then got larger again at the end. Everything else was fine (didn't have the Materni21 test), but they didn't recommend any further testing based on all my other results. Once DD was born, they did an ultrasound of her kidney in the hospital and they were perfect. Nothing further had to be done. I've heard it's common, especially in boys, and that at birth everything is fine.
They also swore she was an 8+ lb baby and she was 10 days late and 7lbs 1oz!

Re: Level 2-
They found out at the Level 2 that my DD has this as well on one of her kidneys. They monitor it at each appointment (I'm high risk so I go by weekly), but the Dr said there is nothing that can be done or any cause to worry about this before she is born. The as the PPs mentioned they will do an ultrasound and decide if anything needs to be done. I did the Verify test to rule out DS and thank god it came back negative. Aside from that I'm just trying to block this info out for now!
