Lemon Law

I had posted about a month ago that we were having problems with our brand new 2015 Toyota Corolla. It is currently back at the service department for its 4th repair and it's been there since 7/30. We had a claim open with Toyota's corporate office who was supposedly investigating and they have since determined that there is no defect with the car. A car that won't start every time it rains because somehow water is getting into the engine and corroding it. A car that has needed the engine harness and wire harness replaced twice in a month and has had a brand new computer installed and it has 12k miles on it. That's not normal. Yet there's no defect???

So we now need to pursue a full lemon law claim. Does anyone have a recommendation on an attorney? Has anyone else had this problem? It's extremely infuriating, especially being 3 weeks away from my due date with one functioning car (we do have a loaner but they keep saying they may need it back).

You can open a claim yourself through the NY Attorney General's office. I did this for my boss years ago. It went in his favor. Good luck!

Thanks for the recommendations.

We're now finding out that they're refusing to repair the car anymore because they believe it was vandalized and that's why we're having reoccurring problems. I've never heard of anything so ridiculous. I'm going to be sick. Now we have to get our non functioning car back home somehow, have it repaired on our dime, and rent a car ourselves. Just the kind of stress a woman who is 37 weeks pregnant needs.

Oh and not to mention continue making payments on a new car we can't use.

That's insane

Re: Lemon Law

Contact Eric Schneiderman's office (NYS Attorney General)...I'd also contact the local news, Help Me Howard, Shame on You - those kinds of segments.

That is insanity.

Anyone on here have a connection to the attorney general's office?

Why don't you bring it to another dealership? Dealerships are independently owned. The manufacturer can only do so much and they will tell you take it to another dealer to fix.

The first 3 times we brought it to competition Toyota which is where we purchased the car. Once it died the 4th time, we brought it to smithtown Toyota. Toyota corporate supposedly told them not to work on the car until they sent someone down to investigate and they were the ones who are claiming the vehicle was somehow tampered with or vandalized. So Toyota is saying since it was apparently vandalized, they're not responsible for repairs so the dealer won't fix it unless we pay them to. They recommended we go through insurance. Chat Icon
