DD has been playing with lego duplos since she has been 1. Always very good/advanced with fine motor skills. She loves legos and we've been stocking up on duplo sets. But at what age can I realistically switch to regular legos? When/what comes after duplos?

My twins will be 4 on december 1st and they are getting their first real lego sets for christmas. They will only be allowed to play with them when their brother, who will be 27 months, is napping as he still puts things in his mouth. I will probably introduce him at 3.5 years if he is done putting things in his mouth. That's around when my older DS stopped putting things in his mouth.

dd is 4 1/2 and we got her real small legos last year for Xmas.

She only does them weith DH and when her sister 19 months is not around

She still has problems using them. Like actual sets, like the boat and tree house. To just build shes fine but the boat has tight spaces and such she can do it just with help

She has no fine motor issues at all

My DS will be 3 in Dec and he has been playing with regular Lego's for the last year.

We have tiny tiny pieces and he is great with them. He was never really one to put them in his mouth so kinda just went with it. He has my DH's old ones and we bought him just general pieces and he builds his own things out of them.

Re: Lego Experts

DD is 3.5 and I think she has a few regular lego sets and she got her first one earlier in the year. She still likes the duplo and probably plays with them more but there were certain characters she wanted and could only get in the smaller regular sized sets.
