Legalizing/incorporating a small business
My husband is thinking of legalizing a handyman business. Does anyone have experience with this? The time frame, how difficult is it, etc. Where do you even start? I know he is looking into it but just curious if anyone knows anything about the process on here.

First thing - talk to an accountant. There are some tax implications that need to be worked out.
The actual filing of the incorporation papers is easy. It can all be done online at the NYS Dept of State or through something like legal zoom.
It's a quick process, but like I said, talk to an accountant or attorney about the tax implications.
