Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
My DD is 2 mos old. It's hard to admit this but I can't leave the house and have him watch her. He's great at changing her diaper and cuddling her when she's calm but she won't take a bottle from him (shes breastfed so i pump my milk so i can go back to work in a week). She will take the bottle from my mom who will be babysittibg for her. She also often cries when he holds her but calms when I pick her up. I feel terrible for my DH. When comes home from work he misses her so much that he just wants to hold her what can we do? Please tell me this will pass.

Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
You have to leave her with him. Even if just for 30 min to start! Show him that you trust him. Give them that bonding time.

It will pass. In a few months you're going to post saying that your DD only likes her Daddy and cries when you go to pick her up. Really!
At 2 months their likes/dislikes and habits can change on a whim. They're so different from one day to the next.
One suggestion: if you want Daddy to be more comfortable with DD, just get out of the house for a few hours. He'll figure it out. And he'll be more confident, which maybe DD will pick up on.

It will pass. When DD was that age I think my husband was so afraid he was going to break her because she was so tiny. I think DD sensed that he was nervous because we went through the same thing. But little by little, he took on more responsibility and now at 8 months he does everything from change diapers to feed her to take her out and even watches her when I work and he is off. It will def pass. Just give him some time,

Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
You have to leave him with the baby. For all of you. Your mental stare will change if you end up having to be tied to the baby 24/7.

Agree with everything pp said. You have to leave her with him. It's best for all of you. You need a break. Your dd needs to get used to being around other people than you and your dh will be more confident and comfortable the more time he gets with the baby. Plus it's bonding time that your dh is entitled to also.

Re: Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
I had the same problem... It was bc DH didnt have enough experience with her alone so wasn't as comfortable having me leave... I started taking small trips half hour- one hour. Also, during the morning shift I told DH that it defeated the whole point of him getting up to give me a break if I had to get up and help him with our LO... One day I told him that and ever since that day it changed... He didn't call me to help him and did it all himself. He knew I was annoyed and had enough lol! Good luck! Just remember he needs to have alone time with her in order to figure things out himself.

Re: Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
I think the best thing to do is to leave her with him now. She will take a bottle from him if she has no other choice, and if it takes a while, so be it, she won't starve.
The longer you wait, the harder it will be on both of them (actually, all three of you).
I left my DD with my husband (who had no prior experience with babies) when she was less than two weeks old, so I could go to a baby shower. I really think it was the best thing I could have done. Sure there was a bit of panic on his part a few times throughout the day, but they both survived. They did great, actually. And I really think it helped DH realize how capable he is as a dad. I want DD to know we are both her equal caretakers and I can tell she gets that now. She's equally as comfortable with Daddy as she is with Mommy. I now leave her with him all the time, overnights too (when I'm traveling for work), and he is an old pro. I don't worry about her for a sec when she's with Dada!

Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
Go get your nails done. I had the same worries and called every 20 minutes. At 6 months we split everything 50/50 and I couldn't imagine not. I think I would lose my mind if it was all on me but it did take me a little while to get there. Going back to work sort of forced it on both of us.

Re: Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
I used to leave a piece of my clothing I wore with dh so she would smell me while he was feeding her.

Re: Leaving baby w/ her Daddy?
I would think they need bonding time. He also needs to learn how to soothe her. The truth is, DH soothes DD completely different than I do but he needed a chance to do it.
