Re: Leap Pad spinoff

I had the leap pad post. My DS uses my ipad but I dont want him constantly taking it. I think it is an $$ piece of equipment for my DS to use. This was why I was looking into the leappad for him. I am more than sure the ipad is great for them. I have been reading up they are saying the leappad is slower than the ipad but of course it is it like a quarter of the price LOL. I am more than sure there are TONS of ipad apps just like the leap frog stuff. I just do not want my DS using my 800 ipad lol. But if your kids are big enough that you think they are fine using the ipad then I would just keep doing that. My DS is turing 2 next month

Re: Leap Pad spinoff

For us it comes down to the price. We got the leap pad for 70 and a new tablet is 500-800. I am 100% sure you can get great apps on the ipad and if you are comfortable giving your DC an ipad then great, but for us, I am not. When we got them it at 2 and 4 they were still dropping things and not super careful with technology. Do we let them use our tablet, and laptop, yes. But I really wanted to let them have something that belongs to each of them that I was not as concerned about them dropping and spending 1000-1600 for two of them just seemed excessive for us as hanukkah presents.

Gotcha the one she uses is the original iPad which is passé technology lol..she's 19 mos and pretty good with it but was trying to see if it was similar enough for her to use..there are some apps she can open and use independently and likes

I think the iPad is just as good for them! I went back and forth with the leap pad 2 and innotab 2. I finally decided on the leap pad 2 when the Black Friday adds came out and for the $100 I will spend on the Leap pad, I can get an android tablet. Then I can download free apps and purchase games cheaper. So I decided to go with that.
