Lazy Eye.. Any mommies BTDT advice? Edited with pics, second pic best example
DS had his 3 year appointment yesterday, and is SO big and WAY ahead of all of his milestones EXCEPT potty training....
That's my bragging moment. BUT, I pointed out to the doctor that sometimes his right eye seems "lazy". Kind of crosses. He examined and definitely noticed it. So, he is sending us to a pediatric opthamologist.
Anyone have any experience with this? What will they do? Will he need surgery?
Here is a picture of when I first noticed it. He's being a little crazy here, we were hiking so he looks messy. But you can definitely see it.
What do you think?
Edited with one more pic for good measure b/c I am so so proud of my little man!

Re: Lazy Eye.. Any mommies BTDT advice?
My BFF growing up had a lazy eye and so did my little cousin. In both instances, they just had to wear a patch over the "good eye" for a part of the day everyday to strengthen the lazier eye. Over time it was corrected with the patch- just a few years.
Although, my BFF says that even now, at 29- if she's truly exhausted, she'll notice it gets a little lazy unti lshe gets some sleep!

I had a lazy eye and it was fixed with glasses and vision therapy.

I had as a child -- it pretty much went away on it's own for the most part......I always thought it was kinda neat because I would sometimes make it happen on purpose.

Do you remember how long you had to wear the corrective lenses? What is vision therapy?

Re: Lazy Eye.. Any mommies BTDT advice?
well, I started wearing glasses and continue to do so cuz I have astigmatism,
vision therapy was a lot of looking at 3d pictures that were split, so I had to work to look at them and put the two images together to form the one picture (sort of like when you look at a 3d picture and some of it is red and some is blue but when you look at them together they form the 3D image).
there was a balancing activity that I recall
and there was some depth perception work
I was older than Devin though

I had strabismus and had surgery when I was 6 yo. I also wore glasses until I was a teenager.
