Re: Lap Top Recommendations
No, I can't. It's a Dell Inspiron 5160. Fairly powerful, and does everything I need, but it is HEAVY! I'm a pretty strong guy, but it's still heavy. I would definitely look into the lightest laptop you can find. Unless you are doing high-end computer work (latest games, engineering, etc), the processor is not that important. Any new PC will do all of your Office work, Internet stuff, etc.

Re: Lap Top Recommendations
Thanks! I definitely don't need anything "too fancy". Basic internet "stuff", word processing, excel, etc.

I have a dell D610 and I bought Danielle a Gateway MT3707 a few months ago at Bestbuy. It has a 1024mb memory and 160gb hard drive.
Now Best buy has a 2gb Laptop for the same price from Gateway.
You need at least 1024MB of ram with the VIsta operating system.

I have one of those new HP snazzy ones. It came with Vista but no antivirus- so I put AVG on it and so far so good! It's fast and I love it.

After SWEARING I'd never get a Mac, DH suggested I look into getting an iBook. I took his advice, and now I HATE using Windows!! I'm converted!

Re: Lap Top Recommendations
I have an HP that has lasted me over three years thus far. My wife has an Acer that is less than a year old which is a total piece of crap. I used to sell and fix computers when I was in college. I would say imo HP or Compaq. I sold Toshibas and they were good but pricey. I would stay away from Sony. Too much money to fix when you need parts.

I believe Acer makes quality laptops on the higher end. I know two developers with very expensive Acers and they do love them. My wifes was only like 800 dollars and ended up being crap. I assume on lower end ones they probably use inferior parts.

That laptop looks really good for the money. The processor is a good speed. It has 1 gb of ram which is perfect. A 120 gb hard drive. It looks to have shared video memory which is fine unless you want to do a lot of video entensive things or want to play newer games. Let me know what you're using it for and then I can tell you definately. But for 599 that's a pretty stout laptop.
