Landscaping
Hi! I'm new to the boards and also a new homeowner....one project i would love to do this spring is landscaping our front yard!! we are looking to do it ourselves to save money but i don't even know where to start?? i was hoping for some advice / direction for anyone that has landscaped, i'm at a loss! how did you go about picking out flowers / shrubs etc?

Are you thinking of doing hardscape, too? (Retaining walls, sidewalks, paths, etc).
Lightscaping? (Low voltage lighting)
Just flowers, bushes, trees, a little of each?
Do you have any pics of your yard?

just flowers and bushes...i don't have a pic of the yard but its about a 5 ft space in front of a bay window so probably nothing that would grow higher than 4 ft. there are some plants there but we would rip everything up and start from scratch.
