You don't have to take the class if you don't want to. My OB office gave me the ppwk to fill out before my 4th month to hand into the hospital. I got a call from a coordinator and we're scheduled in April to start the classes. I would call your OB and ask them.

I'm taking the class at Winthrop (it is 2 sessions). I figure it is a good way to get to know the hospital, and maybe a nurse or two.
I also have a video - Laugh and Learn About Childbirth that I will watch.
I'm sure I won't remember a thing once I'm in labor though!!

I'm taking a full day course in Feb- it's not just lamaze- it's also a tour of the hospital and a complete briefing on what to expect with labor, delivery, pain management option, etc.

Not taking lamaze.
My midwife does her own birthing class which we are taking and my doula does a 2 hour prenatal birthing class two weeks before my EDD.
