Lake George advice
So we are now toying with the idea of going to Lake George in July. I have never been there before but everyone who has ever gone has nothing but good things to say BUT no one says anything in detail.
Do you just swim in the lake and do lake related things?? Sounds nice but kind of boring...
Where to stay? What to do? TIA

Lake George advice
My son was supposed to go to camp in the area, so we were going to hang out for the week. When I was researching, it honestly looked so boring to me, and very expensive for pretty much nothing. He didn't end up going to camp since he broke his ankle so fortunately we didn't have to hang out in the area lol. Sorry for being no help!

Re: Lake George advice
We go every year and love it! There are dozens of things to do--I don't think I've ever even put more than my feet in the lake lol!
Horseback/pony rides Minne-ha-ha paddlewheel boat Mini golf Water Slide World Great Escape amusement park Magic Forest--vintage, small amusement park for really little ones Boat rentals Horse and buggy rides Fort William Henry Fireworks every Thursday night Live music/shows at the park Adirondack museum...a bit of a drive but SO worth it. Etc etc etc etc etc etc!
Besides the museum, all of those things are right in town. There are even more things if you're willing to drive a bit. Great family location!

Re: Lake George advice
I went with dh for the first time ourselves this past summer. Great place! My brother goes every year so they kind of showed us around but we did some stuff on our own too.
Fort William Henry was awesome, we did a night ghost tour. Highly recommend. There's also a beautiful restaurant inside the hotel on the grounds with a stunning lake view where we went for breakfast.
Minigolf is big. Try the Around the World/Around the States one.
We kayaked down the Sacandaga river. Some rapids but manageable and fun for us as first time on rapids.
There are arcades on the main drag we enjoyed.
We declined to do any lake activities but there are plenty.
Bars are busy at night, shops are open late so you can stroll around with plenty of other families.
Eta: there's this weird echo thing you have to google it, there's a small park, with a scale model of the lake and intersecting lines where you stand and talk and you hear your own echo. I'm not explaining it well but it was super weird. Be sure to check it out. It's right off the main road.
We stayed at Blair house in the new building, a 1 br with kitchenette, nice. Don't stay in the older units.
