Lake George
We are thinking of going in Mid September
What is there to do there and any good places to stay?
We have 3 kids and I will be 30 weeks pregnant

Re: Lake George
We stay at the Cresthaven. On the lake, beautiful log cabins.
The cabin we get is a single unit 2 bedroom/2bath One bedroom has a King bed and the other has a full/twin bunk bed. Full kitchen/washer/dryer, porch, bbq - LOVE it there.
We rent a boat for the day, take the kids into the town to hang out, they have a drive in movie theater, a few amusement parks, a water park
We have also stayed at the Sagamore - but my kids like the 'log cabins' better - and it's more convenient with the kitchen/laundry etc.

Re: Lake George
I agree with Marisa about Cresthaven Lodges - they're beautiful. If you're looking for something a little less pricey and right in the village, I would suggest either the Sundowner or the Georgian.
I love Lake George in September...as a matter of fact DH and I got married there in mid September. But I would caution to just be careful which week you choose. Mid September is crazy - you've got the National Car Show from Sept 10 - 12th, which is a very big event. And the Adirondack Balloon Festival is from Sept 17 - 20th. Both of those events are very very big annual events and hotels are booked literally 6 - 8 months in advanced. You're likely not going to be able to find hotels with any availability at this point if you plan on going those weekends.
Also remember, that time of year the temps drop drastically. At our wedding 2 years ago (we got married Sept 14th) it was 64 degrees out during the day. But 3 days prior to our wedding it was 80 degrees out and we were on the boat sunbathing and swimming - so just plan to bring layers because the weather is pretty unpredictable in September
