kraftmaid vanity cost

A couple of questions for those who have BTDT:

I got a brochure from lowes and a quote from home depot. They are completely different prices for the same exact thing. I showed the woman at HD this and she said they would match it.

Do different places have different kraftmaid prices?

If you got a kraftmaid vanity, how much did it cost? I am looking to get a 48 inch vanity.

now go price it at COnsumers. I priced my kitchen Kraftmaid cabinets at consumers and then at HD.....HD was double the cost.


ETA- Mine we the same cabinets with the upgraded structure for both stores.....I was comparing apples to apples and HD was still 2x more

You can get Kraftmaid and other cabinets in various grades of quality. Some are mostly particle board structure and shelves are particle board covered with a thin veneer of vinyl that looks like wood, others have plywood structure and real wood shelves. That accounts for a lot of the variance in price. You need to ask about those details. Also, make sure they are giving you all the extras in the quotes - any molding you want on the top, the strips of spacers to position the vanity away from the wall so doors open properly, the toe-kick, etc. If it is just a rough quote on a cabinet they may add all that in at the end and have a higher total price.

Consumers was a nightmare, impossible to get help.

Anyway we just bought our vanity Kraftmaid from HD last year I think. The thing to keep in mind the names are totally different from one place to the other so it was hard for me at first to really get the same pricing correct. Also you really need to compare the estimates, there are so many upgrades, and one that some designer will automatically do but not mention is the type of wood used to design the cabinet (not the door) there are like 4 different levels from all plywood construction to furniture quality) so you really need to grill them about what it in the quote. WE even brought the HD quote to lowes and let them see it without the total cost page so I could be sure I was getting the same items. It took us MONTHS of research and going back and forth before ordering!

For us it wound up that Lowes was slightly more but was having better promos. So I brought my info including a print out from the Lowes site of their promo to HD and they matched it. I also had it delivered to the HD store and then delivered by HD to my house. benefit here was that Delivery was only $75 vs $150 for Kraftmaid to deliver and I was able to add on to the delivery other items from the HD store at no add'l charge, so we had them deliver all our sheet rock, plywood etc for the remodel as well.

In the end I LOVE My vanity more than anything in my house!!!! It is GORGEOUS! I recently posted pics of my finished bath on here if you want to search!

ETA: I dont think you want to know what we paid because honestly we have an 8 foot wall, the layout is 30" sink, 18" drawer bank with hutch (2 sep items of course), 30" vanity, 15" linen closet....so our cost was alot (probably nearly 1/2 of what we spent to completely gut and redo the entire bath) but totally worth it
