Knife Recommendation
My husband loves to cook and always complains about his knives. We have a 10 inch Wustoff nd an 8 inch Cutco, Plus a bread knife and various others. What would you suggest. He does a lot of chopping. I was thinking of an 8 inch Santoku. I will spend up to 250 I think...
Wanted to add-he is 6'4 and has big hands and ALWAYS complains stuff is too small for him. So keep that in mind

Re: Knife Recommendation
I have a Calphalon Professional Set - the smaller full set was$200 at BBB. You can find individual knifes at BB or sometimes Home Goods for $20-25. I know its a lot less then you wanted to spend but its a great knife.

Re: Knife Recommendation
My husband ALWAYS complained about the knives we had...I got some from pampered chef..and he loves them..he is a chef ....so if that means anything.

Re: Knife Recommendation
I have a lot of mediocre knives for daily use.. but I think you only need 1 or 2 GREAT knives to keep you happy.
I use a 6" as my go to.. but I have bear paws - short and fat. If he has big hands, the 10" might be the way to go.
The challenge (in my humble opinion) is that knives are seriously personal. You have to hold them and kind of get a feel for them. I mean.. Henckles is a brand that a lot of people LOVE. I find most of them to be kind of off balance in my opinion. I don't think they have a proper weight for my style and it throws me. Misono - which a lot of people find to be uncomfortable - is perfect to me. Also a recent convert to Shun knives too.

Re: Knife Recommendation
This is really helpful. Thank you Thanks to everyone else also. One more question. Has anyone used ceramic knives?

Re: Knife Recommendation
I'd recommend a large, solid chef's knife or a large santoku knife.
I'd recommend Henckels brand.

I bought a 6" chef's knife from the Ming Tsai's Kyotop Damascus series for my husband last year and he refuses to use any other knife! He loves the wood handle...a lot of other ceramic knives have a plastic handle so they don't have the weight that he prefers.

Thanks I read about this one. The thing that concerns me about these is it says if you drop it it can shatter like glass...
