Well, I'm really very private about most things in my life. This is something I have dedicated a lot of time and energy to. Honestly, I fear my reaction to people's comments. I have done 3 years of research on this, 3 years of writing letters and calling politicians, starting petitions, going to cat shows, it's very important to me. I know the arguments of my opposition and they’re based on feeling & emotion. I will not get into an emotional argument over this, it’s a factual issue, but people try to ‘confuse’ the issue by bringing up unrelated points. You know what they say, this is a public board so if you don’t want to hear people's comments, don't post about it
Thanks for the support. I planned on posting WHEN I get the law changed to remind everyone that they can make a difference!
Uh-Oh...should I not have posted this I'm sorry if you didn't want this out there. I will delete it if you like, just let me know. GOOD LUCK with your fight and please keep us posted on it!

I think the "fear" people may have is that people who would have such cats not care for them the way you do. Cats getting lose, attacking children at their school, dogs being eaten whole, etc.....I am not sure I am far from what they would think. Really!
I know how much you love them and take care of your cats.
I think I would have felt differently about "exotic" cats if I had not know you and met them.

Oh!!! No - it's fine, really! I am sorry! I didn't mean it like that! I thought I'd kind of leave it to 'fate' if someone posted they saw it. I actually need people to write to their local assemblyman & ask they support my amendment, so getting it out there is important! I was just nervous but you ladies have always been supportive to me, so I should have known not to worry!

Some people actually believe this!
False - My cats do not eat children or small dogs
True - they will eat magazines
IMAGE
True - they will steal your broccoli
You forgot..... shread tissues to DEATH.
I always praise your house/yard is set up for them is unbelievable. You are SOOO responsible for them and other people who may have fear. Yet, you don't look like a cat lady. You would never know you have exotic cats.
I honestly can attest that your cats are so well behaved even with strangers.
AND we are talking about me..... the "not exatly" cat lover. I love your cats.

Re: KittyTheStray
My old landlord had an F-2 Bengal (he was explaining the whole thing to me one day, that's the only reason I know) and I have to say, she was one of the nicest cats I ever met. She was also beautiful. She certainly was never big enough to attack and eat a dog or child...she was a little bigger than a regular housecat. She was definitely more affectionate than my cat, who is one of the most aloof cats I have ever met.
I think it's a shame that people automatically assume these cats are like tigers or leopards without really reading anything.
And, Kara - FM me the information to e-mail assemblymen and/or other members of congress and I will gladly do so to help your cause!

It was a figure of speech. Yes, they are not big enough to eat a dog and/or child. I was talking about what most people say when they are ignorant.
We had the same problem when I was younger and we had 2 German Shepperds. People thought my dogs were monsters. They never bit anyone. They would just bark at strangers but people had a fear of them.
One day they escaped our yard, run in the neighborhood... So happy to be on the lose. They locked down the small local school. Like if 2 wild animals were on the lose. One person even said that one of the dogs attacked a kid.
My parents were so upset about hearing about the kid. We went to the town Hall and school to find out what kid. How he was doing? If they needed any info with our insurance.
Turns out.... NOBODY was attacked. They had just closed the gate of the school when they saw the dogs running around as a precausion and since it was a kindergarden/pre K/Elementary school, the kids were small and could have been scared of them. They did the right thing to protect the kids.
BUT the "attack" never happened. Somebody made it up and told every parent of the school and the rumor was spread like crazy.

Re: KittyTheStray
I wasn't saying you specifically...like I said, it's just people don't really read stuff before they make assumptions. I know you were being facetious...I saw your second post.
It was just a general statement.
