Re: kitchen cabinets
I used consumers and did not have a single problem. My parents used them 3x over the years and never had an issue.
They were significally cheaper than lowes and home depot and I got more from Consumers.

Re: kitchen cabinets
Are you looking to save money or have someone do the work for you?
DH and I got great granite countertops and gorgeous cabinets from a place called Auction Outlet in Ozone Park. They deliver the cabinets and counterops to you and you install them yourself. Prices are unbeatable!

Re: kitchen cabinets
I went to Consumers and got a quote.. and then went to Home Depot and got a much cheaper quote for more. I didn't DISLIKE Consumers.. but they made it very difficult to work with them and ultimately we decided to stay with Home Depot. I'm happy with the quality and look of our cabinets.

Re: kitchen cabinets
Ikea has some nice styles that come with a 25 year garauntee. When we are ready for that project we will check them out as well as lowes and home depot.

Re: kitchen cabinets
I bought mine at HD because of my budget and the designer was good. I went to consumers a couple of times and had a bad experience the first time and the second designer never called me back. I would first decide what your budget is than go from there. HD can be hit or miss depending on who helps you.

Re: kitchen cabinets
It depends what you are looking for.. if you are looking for a better quality cabinet and don't want a lot of wasted space, then you should go to a cabinet maker..
My dad, who is a vendor on here- Dynamic Kitchens & Furniture, actually makes the cabinets in his shop based upon the specific specifications of each client's kitchen.
There is no wasted space and no filler.
All cabinets are crafted using solid wood/plywood boxes with solid doors- no flake and no MDF..
Most places on long island- like consumers and HD, sell stock cabinets- what that means is that the sizing is limited and the colors are limited.
If you got with a custom manufacturer you can get any style/color/measurement you want as they are made for you.
The downside is that they take a little longer- but it's like comparing a honda to a bentley really... you'll wait for something that is quality.

Re: kitchen cabinets
We used Consumers and had a great experience with them. We found them much more knowledgeable than Lowes and HD and got more for our money. Our cabinets are Kraftmaid.

Re: kitchen cabinets
i used consumer for both of our bathrooms, without a problem. obviously, it's a lot more involved doing a kitchen - but just wanted to put out there that i had no problems dealing with them. we are using nassau suffolk lumber for our kitchen.
