Kinda bummed...
I dont know if I should be happy or not...I guess with that many eggs I expected more...only 20 were mature and 7 fertilized...we opted to not do ICSI and maybe more would have fertilized if we had done it...I am happy to have them but now I am worried that they wont develop and we wont have anything...I am such a pessimist but it kinda sucks...

I had 15 mature, 8 fert, 2 compacted at 5d and none made it to blast at d6 to freeze and still have  . Hang in there!! 
Or maybe it was 9 mature and 8 fert..doesn't matter now

I guess I am being "greedy" since I "only" have 7... When you have that many eggs I just expected more... With ICSI would I have gotten more??

Was ICSI recommended to you by your dr? If not it's possible it wouldn't have helped your particular situation. I think 7 is still just fine but more importantly hopefully all will grow well in the next coming day. Good luck to you!!

Well they did mention that since I could have unexplained infertility they would do 1/2 ICSI and 1/2 not...I opted to not do ICSI unless the embryologist thought it was necessary but I guess they didnt think it was needed...If we had to do IVF again I would opt for the ICSI to have the peace of mind...since we really dont know what our IF issue is

My first IVF........
30 follies..... 9 eggs   Just like you, I knew that wasn't BAD but was expecting more considering I had so many follicles... Then I found out 6 were mature and just 4 fertilized. 4!! I can't even describe what a roller coaster that week was... We ended up transferring back 3 on day 3, the fourth never made it to freeze. As you know, I had triplets from 2 embryos (two implanted, one split). You just never know what can happen! Oh- and we did ICSI for all our retrievals.

Just like anything, it's all about perspective. I just kept reminding myself of how fortunate I was to have those 4 that did fertilize considering there are people who have 1.. 2.. or even none. This is NOT bad news. It's quality over quantity. Better to have a few that are great than 100 that aren't good.

you may have gotten more with ICSI but you just never know. did you DH have any sperm issues like morphology, even slight? then its a no-brainer to do ICSI but given the added cost i wouldn't beat yourself up over it, it's too late to go back anyway.
7 is a fine number, i wouldn't stress over it even though with as many eggs you expected more. just try to think positive!

At NSUH they said he did have a very slight morphology issue but since his count was so high that it really shouldnt matter that much...they also recommended 1/2 ICSI but you are right I cant beat myself up over it now...with that many eggs the docs even said it shouldnt be an issue... but I guess if it doesnt work I will def have to consider ICSI next time...hopefully I wont have too

If it makes you feel better I only had 6 follies, 4 eggs 2 fertilized, and we put both back on a 2dt..
I cried when they told me there were only 4 eggs when I woke up from the anesthesia.
Eta: and that was after 750iu dose of follistim for 6 days and 675 for 3 days.

Not necessarily! I had the exact same amount fert with icsi than without (we did both)
This will happen!!!! Have faith!!!!!!!!
