Kind of scared, losing a lot of hair!

everytime I shower, there is a ball of hair at the drain.. when I brush, or use my hand to comb through my hair, I always lose some.

What's going on? Is there anything I can take for this? Who should I see? My primary physician??

I have thick hair, but this is getting alarming!

Have you ever had your thyroid checked? I have hypothyroidism and Hair loss was one of my symptoms. There are a lot of reasons for hair loss and none of them have to be a serious condition, so dont worry yourself needlessly.

If your concerned , like you seem to be, I would say , just call and see the dr and see what they say, cant hurt right?

well, stress is a leading cause of hair loss. But there is also alopecia (sp?) you might want to go to your doctor and ask him if there is any other cause of your hair loss.

Just called her.. waiting for her to call me back.

I hate calling her office, because the first thing the recpetionist or whoever always ask to "hold please" then they put you on hold for 10 mins... and whenever I am there, they were just talking and joking around to each other. This is how you treat patients? What if someone has an emergency?

I am just cranky today.

I went through this a year or so ago...I guess it was stress related because it stopped. I did ask my hairstylist one time and she thought I was crazy --- "you have tons of hair, it's probably stress" and then I stopped losing so much.

But best to check with your Dr., just don't be too worried.

I find that if I wear my hair in a ponytail I lose a lot of hair. Maybe this is the case?

I am under a lot of stress this year, with my job, we bought a house and soon our wedding. I've never experience hair loss like this, and my hair is pretty thick to begin with... just seeing a ball of hair in the shower and everytime I even comb through my hair, just really alarmed me.
I just recently had a physical and everything turned out good.

Will wait to hear back from my doctor, I hope it's due to stress, and soon it will stop.

dita - I don't wear my hair in a pony tail everyday, when I do, it isn't too tight.

It can be from stress, change of season, change of diet perhaps? I felt like mine was coming out in clumps for a while but it's ok now - the hairdresser said it was normal. I am sure the doc will tell you for sure.
