Kids not getting along
My DC are 2 1/2 and just 5. When I am home with either one of them alone, things are great. But when all three of us are together, things don't go well. Last night I was trying to make a quick dinner and they ended up fighting because my youngest didn't want to share something and my oldest wouldn't let it go. They end up yelling, crying, chasing each other, etc. it's a crazy house sometimes! I hate it. And it was never like this until the last year or 6 months. What am I doing wrong? They love each other about half the time and are fighting the rest of the time.
ETA... Do I just make them play separately? I would LOVE any advice! I feel like my neighbors must think I'm abusing them with all the noise! I think part of it is they both have the same sort of personality...they both never stop talking, want to be listened to and want to do things their way only. Sometimes they just clash.

Kids not getting along
Sounds like my sister and her kids... they are closer in age though, 5 and 6... it can be brutal to be around both of them at the same time... youre not doing anything wrong, they are kids and siblings...

Re: Kids not getting along
Um, yeah. That sounds like my house like every night. My DC are 7.5, 6, and 2.5 and the day goes along great...until 3pm when all hell breaks loose, until it's great again when they're all playing nicely, until all hell breaks loose again. Yesterday evening, I played a torturous game of Po-Keno with the three and when the game was over, my sister called and I locked myself in the bathroom and proclaimed in a hoarse whisper, "I fu#%ing hate everyone in this house!" I'd counsel you to relax with a glass of wine, but my sister and I agreed that sometimes there's just not enough wine in the world...
You're not doing anything wrong, that's kids! Honestly, I do find laughter the best medicine...sometimes I just start laughing maniacally, which gets them laughing, and then we've all calmed down...
Hang in there!

Re: Kids not getting along
I only have a DS. But, growing up, we lived with my uncle and his family as well, so it was my brother and two boy cousins, who were all a couple of months apart. They fought like crazy one minute (like serious - w/ wrestling moves and all) and played the next. Now, as adults, they get along and hang out all the time. So, I would say this is totally normal. That's what siblings are for, lol!

Normal. My 3.5 yr old and 1.5 year old are like this ALL the time. There are times when they are sweet to each other too.
