Keurig brewer machines
Are they wort having? Does it get costly buying the individual cups? Thinking about purchasing one but don't want to regret it. Also, what model do you have and does it make espresso as well?

Re: Keurig brewer machines
i have an old model that i dont think they even make anymore...but i do recommend it. the k-cups to get costly, however its cheaper than buying a cup of coffee daily.
In our house it is perfect because DH is a coffee drinker and i am not...so all he needs is one cup a day and its quick.

Re: Keurig brewer machines
I LOVE it. I have the Platinum B60 or B70 or something.
The Kcups can get expensive. One cup costs pretty much the same or as much as a pot of coffee, but it's much easier. I get costco or wait for sales, and use BBB coupons.
It works for us because I drink decaf and DH drinks regular, and all week also it;s jsut me in the house, so it makes it really easy

I cannot live without mine for sure. BBB with a 20percent coupon. I love it so much that I have two, I needed the personal size one for travel.

Re: Keurig brewer machines
I have the Elite. I got it for $80, maybe 3 years ago. Anyway, it's fine for us because I don't drink that much coffee. I have a cup maybe once a month, and I use it if I have guests over. Most of my guests don't like the coffee from it though. I've bought all different types too but my older family members aren't really into it.
If you really like strong coffee it might not be for you. Mine doesn't make espresso.

I have the crappy small one that you have to pour the water into every time you want a cup of coffee. I love it and we use it every day! It's expensive to buy the pods all the time, but I figure that it's cheaper than stopping to buy coffee every day.
On the negative/neurotic side- my husband commented on the plastic we must be drinking every day from the pods. I am looking into getting something different. So far I'm trying to decide between the Hamilton Beach Two Way and the Breville YouBrew.

I absolutely love mine. I don't use the k-cup coffees because I am VERY particular about the brand of coffee I drink. They make a reusable plastic k-cup piece that comes with a small filter and allows you to brew any coffee of your choice.

Re: Keurig brewer machines
I never would've bought one myself since I didn't see the hype, but got one as a gift and now can't live w/o.
You can also get KCups cheaper on the web.
I often get the Grove Square brand at Stop & Shop which are $4.99 for 12.
As other posters mentioned, you can use the refillable KCup too. Usually makes a stronger brew too since you can add more grounds.
ETA: Mine is the basic model. I don't do espresso or anything like that. I did pin a site on Pinterest the other day though about ways you can make fancy coffee drinks with your Keurig.

I love mine. We've had it for a couple years. We just got the refillable cup and it saves a good amount of money- also the novelty of the different flavors wore off. Though if I see good prices, it's still good to have the cups on hand.

Re: Keurig brewer machines
Love mine. I usually make 2 cups of coffee a day in it, and I would say as long as you shop around (good deals online, Bed Bath Beyond w/ a coupon, etc), K-cups average about 50 cents a cup. Not as cheap as brewing your own, but a lot cheaper than buying coffee out.
Mine doesn't make espresso, it's the Elite.

Keurig brewer machines
I'm in the minority here, but for me in the end, it wasn't worth it. I had the B70 and although the convenience was fantastic and I loved it at first, it just wasn't practical. Whenever we had people over, it took forever for everyone to get their coffee, b/c it only makes individual cups. I also started having brewing problems with it about 2 yrs into owning it. I had to descale and clean it practically weekly and I didn't even use it on a daily basis. Then it just stopped brewing altogether. Finally after dealing with Keurig's repair/customer service on and off for a couple of weeks, they told me it was done and offered me a deeply discounted new one. I declined and bought a Hamilton Beach Dual--it does single pod cups AND has a 12-cup pot on the same machine. I love it and it was only $65!

Re: Keurig brewer machines
We never use ours when we have guests over.
I go back to serving French press then.
I also like that you can use the Keurig for hot water and just throw in a tea bag.
