Keratin
Can anyone whos had it explain to me what it actually does? I feel like I may need it but want to see what it really does and if there are any "side effects"

Re: Keratin
Hahaha, but what does it do for your hair? Eliminate frizz? Make it shinier? Straighter?

Re: Keratin
I did keratin express a few years back and it made my hair easier to maintain. I'd literally 'wash and go' after a shower and my hair had a nice shape with very little to no frizz.
I plan on doing it again after I give birth, or probably after I'm done breastfeeding depending on what they say about that.

Re: Keratin
For those of you that do this, how often and how much? I spoke with my hairdresser at my last appt and she recommended it for my fine, frizzy hair that drives me She suggested every 6 mos and the cost is about $200, which seems about the going rate based on what I've read before here. It's pricey but I'm willing to try it. I asked her if it has any adverse effects and she said no. Anyone ever had a bad experience? I think I was thinking of something else, maybe hair straightening, but she said the keratin is protein and is good for hair.
Like PennyCat, I think I'm going to do it post-pregnancy. Would love to hear additional feedback. Thanks.

Re: Keratin
I've never had it done but am thinking about it as well.
Do you need to use any special products after having it done (shampoo, conditioner, etc)?

Yes, you do.
I'm getting ready to have it done too. Just waiting for summer to come around, when my hair is at it's craziest.

Re: Keratin
i have curly/wavy hair that i straighten all the time. i'm just looking for something to maybe take the frizz away and the time that i spend straightening it.
i dont want the pin straight hair that the japanese straightening does, i just want sleeker hair.

Keratin
I've been getting it done for a few years, no side effects. It still has body to it, not pin straight like japanese straightening. it lasts me 6-8 mo. takes away frizz, making it smoother and shinier. i'd definitely recommend it.
