keeping cats away?
my friend told me I should keep my cats away from the baby room (before she arrives) because it could cause her to be allergic. I never heard that before, anyone else ever hear that?

Re: keeping cats away?
I have heard the opposite-it builds their immunity. I kept the cats away b/c they are not allowed in the nursery :)

Re: keeping cats away?
I've never heard that and it really doesn't make sense. She is going to be exposed to the cat one way or another when she is born. It can't cause allergies if the cat has been in her room previously. We have a cat and 2 dogs and before our son was born, we kept them out of the nursery simply because we didn't want them getting dirt or their hair all over it. But their hair was all over the rest of our house and our son is not allergic to them.

Re: keeping cats away?
not true....either the baby will be allergic or not, thats what DS allergist told me. DS was allergic to our cat, no reaction until 18 months....we had to rehome him, it just is what it is so I wouldnt worry about keeping the cat away.
