katz visting restrictions
I'm due to have a c-section with baby #2 in about 2 weeks and I found out that the hospital has put a temporary restriction on any children under 14 visting people in the hospital. I'm sad sad that my 4 year old DD won't be able to come see me and meet her new baby brother for the 3-4 days i'm in the hospital :( She is going to be SO upset!!! Anyone have any experience with this recently? I should add that the restriction is due to the Enterovirus!

katz visting restrictions
I'd due with #2 in a few weeks and while I'm upset my DD might not be able to visit me, I understand the hospital has to do what they think is right. They have to be cautious when dealing with newborn babies and a virus that could potentially threaten their life. While most people would keep a sick toddler home, some others may not be so considerate.

Re: katz visting restrictions
the enterovirus is really really serious under the best conditions, so this seems like a good idea
I'm sorry that your oldest wont be able to visit in the hospital, maybe facetime?

True! Don't get me wrong I totally understand the need for the restriction and of course I would never want the baby exposed to anything, it just makes me sad. FaceTime is a good idea!

Re: katz visting restrictions
When my first son was born, the swine flu (or maybe it was the bird flu) was the big epidemic going around. No one was allowed to visit outside of your immediate family in the hospital. And in the NICU where my son was, only the parents were allowed in. My parents/in-laws had to see my son through the window when we held him up for them to see. It happens. It is all for your child's protection.

Re: katz visting restrictions
My son is having surgery there (at Cohen's) next week and it kills me that he won't be able to see his brothers for four+ days. At the same time, I understand why they have the policy in place.

I would be upset too. However, due to the severity of this virus I think it's great that the hospital is taking precautions. Facetime or skype is a great idea.
