Just Using Pack n Play as Bassinet?

Is anyone not getting a separate bassinet andjust using the pack n play bassinet part for sleep at night in th ebeginning?

People keep telling me that is what they did and it does seem a bit silly to get both, but I'm not sure if the pack n play is meant to be used like that.

one of my friends did that - it worked out perfectly for her! We will likely do the same!

This is what we're planning on doing. I plan on BFing and would like to keep the baby in our room for the first few months. Then, I'll move the pack 'n play downstairs and just use it for naps.

I'm planning on using the pack n play as a bassinet. I think there is a weight limit of 15 lbs, though. Will have to double check the instructions to make sure.

The baby bargains book said that since newborns only sleep for a few hours at a time in the beginning, the pack n play is useful as a bassinet. Older and heavier babies need a regular crib though.

I LOVE the way that traditional bassinets look, but unfortunately, we don't have room for both in our condo.

Re: Just Using Pack n Play as Bassinet?

I used an extra PNP that we picked up on sale for the first few months and then shipped it off to grandma's house.

If you are in a house with multiple levels, I would want a PNP on the main floor and upstairs (or a bassinet upstairs and PNP on the main floor).

This is what we had for DD and it worked out great - planning on doing the same thing again for this one.

we're using the PNP as a bassinet for the first couple of weeks. We are planning on putting baby dodge in the crib fairly soon.

Same here -

And right now we're living on one floor so I don't need the PNP for downstairs and something else for the bedroom .......

We will use the PNP as a bassinet in our bedroom. It seemed wasteful to get both a PNP and a bassinet.

Just the pac and play. I agree, it would be a waste of money to use a bassinet for such a short periord.

We're going to use our pnp downstairs and borrow the pnp my parents purchased for a bassinet for the first few weeks, then give it back to them when we move him to the crib. I don't plan on keeping him in the bassinet long.
