Just sad today
So on Halloween Dh and I found out we are expecting not one but two bundles of joy that are due in June and I couldn't be happier. Well yesterday I got called into my bosses office and he let me know that as of the end of February I will no longer have a position. I am so upset about the whole situation. I have been crying since he told me and I am embarrassed because everyone knows and I don't know how we will survive this. I guess I just need some prayers/hugs. I know this stress isn't good for my babies and I am scared about that too. This is supposed to be one of the happiest times in our lives but right now I just feel terrible.

Re: Just sad today
Take it one day at a time. February is still a few months away, start looking for a job now before you start to show. Send out resumes, line up interviews. You have some time before this goes into effect. Did they offer severance? Are you carrying insurance? If so open enrollment is happening now and maybe you can get on your husbands insurance. Let christmas be minimal this year and starting now save as much as you can. Pay minimums on all your bills and stash as much cash as possible. Line up someone to do your taxes so that when February comes you can file early (assuming you get a refund). Sorry this is happening to you but you will get through it.

I'm sorry. But remember that you have time to figure this out! Get your resume out there ASAP. And negotiate with your current company for a good severance package. Start putting money away now so that if you have to dip into your savings, you'll have more savings to dip into!
I was laid off while 8 months pregnant without any notice. You figure it out because you have to.

I am already starting to show and I have a feeling I'll be huge next week. Nope no severance but thankfully I am already on my husbands insurance so that stress is off my back. This is our first year in our house so I hope we get a pretty good tax refund. I am just hoping I can get another job as soon as the babies come. My dad is retired and my mom works retail but we went to their house last night and talked and they will help us make ends meet (help me pay the mortgage) as much as they can. I am very thankful to have such a loving set of parents

It's a tiny office and I should consider myself lucky he's letting me stay for a few months. Do you think I would get hired pregnant? How soon after the baby did you get another job? Unemployment would probably run out a little after my two are born. I was laid off another time in 2010 but I was living at home without many bills...... Do you know how long unemployment runs now? Then it was 99 weeks but they cut that a while ago. Thank you for your advice

Unemployment is 26 weeks and then you can get an extension for less money for another 45 weeks, I believe.
Are you obviously showing now?

So I would probably get unemployment at 405 a week till a few months after they are born and hopefully my rebate check (I'll keep it in the bank)can hold us till I find a job. Yes everyday it gets bigger lol. It's cute and I wish I wasn't dealing with this crap because it is kind of stealing my joy :( thank you!

We have been struggling with money ever since I was laid off as a teacher. Definitely collect unemployment. While it's not much, it will definitely help.

Thank you so much! I feel bad for my Dh because most likely he will have to find something on the weekends but he knows he has to support us I'm just hoping something good. Comes out of this, like maybe I find a better job after my babies come and I can afford to give them more

Getting laid off SUCKS no matter when it happens. I cried my share out. But for what it's worth, I was able to stay home with DS for 6.5 months instead of only 3 months. Yes, we were short on cash but I just kept thinking that I could never get those moments back. And I enjoyed every precious moment I had home with him. It was harder to go back to a new job, rather than somewhere I was already comfortable, but I wound up getting a job with better hours and in a better location. They gave me flex time so I can come in early and leave early so I have more time home with DS at night. I never would've gotten any of that at my last job. So while it wasn't ideal, in the longrun it wound up being better for me. I hope you have a great outcome, too!
