just found out that my sil is throwing me a second shower

Im not happy about this, I told her clearly I did not want one, I hate hate being the center of attention and I dont like the idea of 2nd showers esp when kids are the same sex. I hope I dont sound ungrateful... I have social anxiety and really do not want this party. My Dh knew about it too and didnt try to put the kabash and Im mad about that too...

dont stress. maybe it is just something small in the house. relax. also bring the first one and he will be the center of attention.

I think that is really sweet of her! Don't sress too much about it, you will end up enjoying yourself. I'm sure it will not be a big todo like a first shower She'll prb just do a little "sprinkle"

I also suffer from social anxiety and while i am totally excited over my shower i totally understand how it is nerve wrecking to be the center of attention.. whats done is done though try to enjoy it and try not to stress to much

Try not to stress! I would talk to SIL, explain how grateful you are and maybe just see if you can have a little sprinkle with just immediate family from both sides.

I felt the same way about having a shower, period. I lost so much sleep and cried so many tears about it, but then I realized that it wasn't really about me.....kinda like your wedding isn't about you a lot of the time, you know?

Your sis-in-law and family are probably really excited for you and the new baby and want to celebrate a new life joining the family. I just kept telling myself that there are many people who have much worse things to deal with than people wanting to shower them with presents! Sometimes that made me feel better.....I wished I could be one of those girls who look forward to their shower, but it just isn't me...

I would def. talk to her about your concerns about how having a 2nd shower will be interpreted- it may be that she is keeping it very small, or at least you could ask her to for this reason.

I am very socially akward and HATE being the center of attention. I made my DH come with me to my first shower and open all the gifts

I know how you feel, but I'm thinking it will just be a small thing that you might feel a little more comfortable at. Usually 2nd showers are close family and friends.

Try to relax and enjoy it! You will definitely appreciate it once its over and done! And bring your DH with you so he can help you feel better as well!

we had a 2nd shower for my best friend, it was really very small. Can you tallk to your SIL about your anxiety, maybe talking will help calm you down...her heart is in the right place!
