Just curious...
This is just an opinion type question, but what is the least amount of money you would feel comfortable having per month left over after paying all of your bills? I am just curious to see what people think. I've thought of every single possible bill down to our Netflicks membership and gas for our cars. I didn't include fun money, birthday gifts, etc. Thank you! I am asking because I have been trying to figure out all expenses in owning a home.

Re: Just curious...
We don't worry about how much we have paycheck to paycheck, more that we have a certain amount in savings. DH doesn't have a huge salary, so his paycheck is pretty much gone every month, but he gets a decent bonus at the end of the year, which we bank. That way when something goes wrong with the house or the car or something we don't have to stress about where to get the money from.

Re: Just curious...
Like Steph, I'm (we're) more concerned with our savings acct and it not dropping below a certain $$. (What a it's going to be after contract and then closing...)

Re: Just curious...
When we decided to buy a house we figured everything out, and we went with a less $$ house because we wanted to live on one salary
THere is no way I would have been comfortable being able to only put $1000 a month away. Thats just me...
We made sure that my salary goes to savings and we live on hubbys, mortgage, maint, bills etc

Re: Just curious...
Well, in addition to funding 401ks to 16% and both of our IRAs and an emergency fund and a rainy day fund, we have about 500 extra each month after all the bills and all the extras are accounted for. We use the left over for fun investing, or buying furniture, or vacations.
