JHS Question - anyone ever

go back to curls after doing?

Has anyone done it then decided to let it grow ALL out again? Did your curls come back? Was your hair changed forever?

I did Brazillian Straightening in November. My hair remained curly, but all the frizz/thickness was gone and it was 90% easier to blow dry. It's now out and what a PITA to blow dry again (I forgot how THICK my hair was!)

I'm trying to decide if I want to redo or go for Japanese this time. I am just not sure that 5 years from now, I won't want curly hair again, KWIM? So I'm afraid to do JHS because I don't want to ruin my hair forever.

Thoughts?

Re: JHS Question - anyone ever

I'm doing that right now. I started doing the JHS a few years ago and have since missed my curls (if you can believe it). Last time I got it done was after DD was born (so Fall of 06). Alot has grown and it's not as curly as it once was but it's still curly.Chat Icon

Re: JHS Question - anyone ever

I think the only way to go back is to let the JHS grow out...like what I am doing now.

I did JHS 2 yrs ago. I was happy in begining, I miss my curls now.

SO I wait.

I dont know if there is any reverse process.

Re: JHS Question - anyone ever

I think I'll stick with the Brazilian then. While it still s*cks to have to blow it, it was prett easy to do (20 minutes easy, 30 minutes if I ironed it too) and it came right out without ruining my curls.
I am not a big fan of pin straight hair on myself either, but the idea of wash & go is sooo tempting.

Re: JHS Question - anyone ever

Well, its been a year since I had my last JHS done and my hair is half grown out. The roots are the same as my old hair used to be. It would take at least 2 years to grow out IMO (unless you wouold be up for cutting your hair really shiort). My plan for when I want to grow it out is to get Brazilian Straightening done on the roots... hopefully by the time that happens all the formaldehyde issues will be gone.
Another option is getting a perm/body wave over the straight part. They use the same chemicals and can be done over eachother.
