Jfk airport train question
I know nothing about the trains or the problems going on at penn right now. I have family coming in from out of state on Friday early morning. They want to take the ronkonkoma line out. Is there anything we need to know about the ronkonkoma line from penn? Is it closed or compromised? Or how do we find out what to tell them in order to make it easy for them to get out here?

Jfk airport train question
They would take the train from Jamaica, not Penn. It is a very easy transfer. We always take the air tran to JFK, wouldn't dream of driving it's that easy.

Re: Jfk airport train question
Your title references the airtrain but then you asked about the train from Penn, which are two different things.
If they're coming from Penn, just tell them to make sure they are looking at the new schedule and have patience.
If they're taking the airtrain from JFK it's super easy. $5 each way to Jamaica where they can catch a Ronkonkoma train. They'll need a Metrocard. There are plenty of people there that can help them if necessary.

Re: Jfk airport train question
Thank you! That's how much I have no idea about any of this. I think they will be taking the airtrain then and going to Jamaica.
So there shouldn't be any issues because the problems are at penn right?

Never say never with the LIRR but yes the AirTran would lead them to Jamaica. Then they buy tickets and look for the track and done!

If they are coming after rush hour in the morning, the LIRR "Should" be fine.

Re: Jfk airport train question
It should be fine and regardless it beats driving from JFK. The air train is truly the best thing NY ever invented. Pure genius

Jfk airport train question
If the trains are delayed out of penn they will be issues at Jamaica. But all they need to do is get to Jamaica and get on the next ronkonkoma train. Leaving JFK you can't plan on a certain train anyway as you never know how long it will take you to get through the airport.
