Jesus Camp...anyone see this documentary?
We watched it last night and all I can say is wow. It's interesting what goes on in this country
ETA: Here's the plot summary of the documentary from imdb.com
Jesus Camp follows several young children as they prepare to attend a summer camp where the kids will get their daily dose of evangelical Christianity. Becky Fischer works at the camp, which is named Kids on Fire. Through interviews with Fischer, the children, and others, Jesus Camp illustrates the unswerving belief of the faithful. A housewife and homeschooling mother tells her son that creationism has all the answers. Footage from inside the camp shows young children weeping and wailing as they promise to stop their sinning. Child after child is driven to tears. Juxtapose these scenes with clips from a more moderate Christian radio host (who is appalled by such tactics), and Jesus Camp seems to pose a clear question: are these children being brainwashed?

i saw it... and it totally made me 
it really bothered me how the kids were treated
that one kid who almost beat himself up b/c he couldn't remember a bible verse or something
it was so heart wrenching to see these kids
i know to each his own but i feel like its taking advantage of vulnerablilty

I agree with you. I also felt like they were brainwashing their kids. I was horrified when that woman, the youth minister whose name eludes me right now, was basically condoning suicide bombers at one point and telling the kids they were at war with the rest of the world.

Yes, I remember my husband telling me this after he saw the movie the first time. I would love to see what South Park could do with that

I saw it in the theatres and people were horrified. The irony is that the woman who runs the camp supported the release of the documentary and thought it was a positive portrayal.
I couldnt believe the part where they have the cardboard cutout of Bush and they are treating it like the messiah.

Disturbing.
I admire their faith & conviction. I found it highly disturbing that these people are having 5+ children and will be a voting majority in the next decade. The part about global warming & creationism as part of science makes me worry for scientific research and advancements.
It made me want to give birth to more heathens. If these guys have their way not only will abortion be banned by IF treatments will be as well.

That was actually her thinking - if religious extremists in the middle east can get their kids to be suicide bombers, then they can use the same religious extremism to indoctrinate children here!
She says it all thru the doc...
sidebar - the camp closed down after thos documentary - and that guy in the super church who was being so condescending to the camera and talking to Levon (forgot the guy's name....) - he's the one who got caught with the gay escort buying crystal meth....
