Jamaica?
Looking to go somewhere different over the winter and am thinking of Jamaica. I hear that the beaches are beautiful but it is not a place to tour around outside of the resort. Anyone been there that can recommend family friendly resorts or provide any input on travel there? TIA!

we went to Jamaica in April and stayed at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay. I cannot say enough good things about that place. SO family friendly. Food was delicious, beach was gorgeous, rooms were great!
Would def go back in a heart beat!
PS i have a 4 and 3 year old that we travelled with.

I second Iberostar. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall (adults only) for our honeymoon. But we walked around the other's grounds. We've also stayed at Iberostar Grand in Dominican and Iberostar Bavaro in Dominican Republic. LOVE THEM!! Can't say enough good things about Iberostar!!

Been to the RIU in Montego Bay. Beautiful resort, great food. I've done the waterfalls excursion. Was scared shitless but it was fun lol. Locals try to sell you overpriced junk while you go in/out but just ignore them.
There were locals walking along the beach trying to sell pot. Just ignore them. They can't come onto the property, they are only allowed to stay along the shoreline.

Negril is gorgeous! We stayed at the Riu Palace one year and Couples Swept Away another. Both places are beautiful but Couples was more $$. If I were to go back it would probably be to the Riu Palace. And you can totally go on guided tours outside the resorts.
