jackfruit?
the restrictions at work won't let me see Whole Foods's website.
does whole foods carry jackfruit? i'd like to give it a try but i'm not sure where to find it. i'm willing to travel to the nearest whole foods if they carry it.
thanks.

I went to the site and you need to put in your location to see what they have.

Re: jackfruit?
So it's a fruit that you can use as a meat substitute?
I'm so confused!

yes.
it has the same texture as pulled pork, so a lot of vegetarians and/or vegans use it.
i've had it at a restaurant, but have never cooked it myself.
from my understanding, it doesn't have much of it's own flavor when it's unripe and will take on the flavor of whatever you season it with.

Also the pits are edible, you can boil them and they taste like potatoes The fruit itself when ripe is kind of sweet with a tough mango texture If you do get one, dip your sharpest knife in a little oil it helps to cut through the thick outter skin
