IVF with Dr. B
Ok girls. SPILL. What do I need to know. What questions should I ask. I am going for my IVF consult with him when I do my next CD3, hopefully Saturday or early next week based on when AF decides to show her face...
I feel like I know the basics about IVF, but not much more. Also what do I specifically need to know about a Dr. B IVF cycle. I know he doesnt do the ER and ET and that I have to go to AFS for that. Anything else specifically?
Thanks girls!!

Re: IVF with Dr. B
You already know you are in good hands. ER and ET is at AFS and i had a good experience there ..olga the tech and the embryologists are GREAT. ER was the best 15 nap ever. ET was a snap, WAY less than IUI or pap.
IVF was more manageable than I thought, like most things IVF related, the anticipation of it is worse than the reality of it...yes the appointments are annoying and the needles aren't fun, but you are already use to that, so there will be no surprises for you.
The best advice I can give, is to take it day by day and be VERY kind to yourself. Oh, and I have a GREAT cycle buddy so if one is available to you, grab her !
Anything specific you would like to know just ask! You will do great and it will be over before you know it.
Good luck to you !!!!

Re: IVF with Dr. B
First off let me just say that you will feel so much better after your IVF consultation with Dr B. DH and I felt very confident that this is the best choice we could make and I really think that that is very important to realize before you get started. Of course, I'm still just an IVF rookie since I still haven't started stimming yet but hopefully by Friday I should get into it! One thing that I've already noticed to be different as compared to IUI is that this cycle is endless..... but of course this could only be the protocol he has me on - I'm on the loooooooooong Lupron protocol It doesn't mean it will take this long for you. I was on Lupron for a week and then have added Ganirelix for 2 weeks now, with the occassional Delestrogen shot on my butt So, there's one question for you: how long will your protocol last and what type of meds does it involve. Of course, I also had to find out which shots are painful because I'm just a big chicken and always need to prepare myself phychologically before enduring anything painful I would find out what the success rates are for your age group with your issues and compare that with what you've been trying so far (IUI, timed intercourse etc). That would give you an idea of how many times you might have to do it to have success. I always thought it takes only one time but that's not what statistics shows.... I have to say I was a little hesitant in the beginning knowing that Dr B wil not be performing the actual ER and ET I'm sure I must have been getting annoying because I kept e-mailing Dr B to let me know what the success rates are for American Fertility, what their experience is etc He told me that they were number one in the country last year and if I would like he could arrange for me to go meet with them personally before the procedure. Of course, I just trust Dr B so much that I didn't need to do that, but it's great that he gave me that option. Dr B was just amazing during the whole consultation - very informative, very patient, very understanding, very funny Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have along the way, I'm just a FM away!

Re: IVF with Dr. B
I just finished a successful IVF cycle with Dr B. I did all my monitoring at AF as well as my ER/ET. The Dr's and Nurses are fantastic and you'll feel very comfortable. BEST OF LUCK!!!

im assuming dr. B isnt actually there for the ER/ET right?? I really wish he did them since I trust him more than anyone. But I guess if he trusts AF... I'll prob do most of my monitoring at AF as well. Did you have to go every day? I go for my consult tomorrow morning . I think the ladies at Dr. B's want to kill me with the amount of times I've called this week and the way they squeezed me in tomorrow..
If anyone here will be at Dr. B's tomorrow and has to wait longer than usual for their appointment...SORRY!!

No, he's not at AF for your ER or ET. You can absolutely trust the Dr's at AF though - they are excellent. And, most importantly, the embryologists are very impressive. When it comes to monitoring you'll be going every other day for about 10 days. I know the whole process seems long but for me I found it to be a roller coaster - once you start stimming it all goes so fast. The Lupron or BCP is definitely the worst part. Good Luck tmrw!
