IVF side effects
Hi Ladies,
I was curious, what are the side effects you experienced from the drugs used for IVF?
I'm not there yet but curious...

it really depends what meds you are on , there are so many different protocols,meds and doses, and everyone has different experiences.
overall i developed OHSS so i was EXTREMELY bloated after ER and after my BFP. not normal bloat, like gained 10lbs in 2 days and legitimately looked 7 months pregnant bloat. my entire abdomen was sore and i could barely move for a few days. however OHSS is a complication, not really a side effect. its common when you have a lot of eggs and high e2.
as far as during stimming the side effects werent that bad. if you have ever done a regular injectable cycle its not that different, just higher doses. from what i remember there was basic bloating, some headaches, and A LOT of ovarian cramping due to egg production. nothing that was debilitating or kept me out of work.

I've only cycled once. I was on the long Lupron/estrogen primming protocol and gained 20 pounds in 2 months. I'm still struggling to get rid of all that weight....
Lupron made me really paranoid and scared of my own shadow....I just had a very weird response to it. Other than that I was fine. Even though I didn't have a good outcome

Everyone is different. For me I had minimal side effects to most of the drugs, just the usual, moodiness and weight gain, nothing too unbearable. Lupron, on the other hand, mad me bat $hit crazy

it started going away the day of my ET. then a few days after my BFP it came back again. it went away at around 6weeks pregnant.
i gained about 10lbs during IVF total, and another 9lbs in fluid on top of that. im a little over 12w pregnant now and ive actually lost 12lbs total in the first tri including the OHSS bloat weight (only 3 real pounds!!).
its a better chance of it happening if you have PCOS since we are prone to hyperstimulation. if you dont have PCOS and are monitored appropriately you should be able to avoid OHSS.

I had very little side effects but I am a poor responder and only developed 2 follicles. I did get the odd headache and hot flash on lupron but was good with everything else except for some bruising on my tummy. I did gain about 5 lbs, which is unusual for me.

My biggest side effect was headaches. I woul wake up with them and have them all day and into the night...They didnt start though until about 6 days after I started everything.
I also developed mild OHSS (I dont have PCOS) it went away after my ET and is back since Wed and I got my BFP on Sat...so uncomfortable
