IVF experience...

If you would...can you tell me what the first few steps are , and what to expect...you can FM me if you want or respond here.

DH and I have attempted 4 IUI's and nothing. This month we are taking off b/c I have left over follies. I am not sure AT ALL what to expect, and if this is the right route for us. We currently do not have any issues, just cannot seem to conceive...Thanks ladiesChat Icon

Re: IVF experience...

I did IVF once a few years ago and have a beautiful son and we are doing it again now.

Both times it was a consultation. I also had to meet with a nutritionist because they want to make sure my diet is good. Also, needed to meet (together with my husband) for one session with a therapist. I guess to make sure we are able to handle what is happening, etc.

Then I had to do a one month baseline to see where I am in my cycle. Once he monitored me than there was a "checklist" of some things he had to do - mock transfer, etc...
I started my meds of injectables and then they did the retreival and a 5 day transfer.

The first time it took almost 5 months from start to finish. This time the process took about 2 months (I guess they knew more about me, see how I reacted to medicine, etc).

I know my doctor is pretty conservative so not sure if other ladies had different experiences.

Good luck!! Chat Icon

Re: IVF experience...

The experience above was very different from mine.

We were moving but I wanted to do IVF in NY. I had a history of losses prior to that. We did teh initil consult with 4 dr's. Chose one, started stims the next week. I never took BC since my cycle coincided with the clinics cycle. Took about 1 month from start to finish(I have 2.5 yr old twins now)

Re: IVF experience...

Took me 1 year of really active TTC to go see a RE.

Took about 6 months of testing, 1 month of clomid TTC, 3 IUIs with clomid & injection meds... then went for IVF.

IVF prep is about 1 month. Need a few sonos, trial transfer, ect. Nothing more complicated than IUIs. More paperwork, ect.

I took BCP to regulate my cycle & so that I could start on a precise day (I am FTWM now... and could not be called in the morning to do a transfer that afternoon).

The worst part were the progesterone shots.
