iui question

has anyone done nonmedicated iui's? when they do the iui this way, are you monitored with sonograms or is it just based on opk? my friends have only had iui's while on clomid and my dr thinks that most likely i can do it naturally.

I did! You are monitored the exact same way as with meds( I've done both!). Had DS with no meds!

It's funny but I'm really struggling to remember and although the last time I had it done was Jan'05(had DS in Oct'05) I did fertility for 1 1/2 years so you would think I would forget

You go in at day3 I think to check your eggs. Then I used ovulation kits to see when I was ovulating but I never really thought they properly detected my ovulation. You then go in for internal sonograms to see your eggs progressing. If they think you will be dropping any day they will give you a shot and then you will come in the next two days for the IUI. That's what we did the last time!(with no meds)

Mine with meds were moonitored much more heavily then without. I had one cycle without meds, I went to the RE all of maybe 3 times.

On CLomid or pills it woudl average 5-7 times a cycle ...

And on injectables, about every other day.

I just had a non-medicated IUI on Tuesday after a surgery. I went for it the day after my surge. My doctor seems to think I can do it without meds. I plan on asking at my next IUI when and if he will consider meds/injectables. I had no extra monitoring or blood work with this IUI. I did have CD3 bloodwork done before my surgery though.
