Re: IUI ers
I had follicles that the docs were sure were ready to drop based on their size and I hadnt surged. They still scheduled me for IUIs. If you surge, you should go in for the IUIs.
My practice does sonograms after each IUI to see if the follicle was released. This last time, I had 4 IUIs - 3 were back to back. On a Friday morning, no surge, no ovulation. I ended up surging on that Friday night. By the time I went in for the IUI on Saturday, it still hadnt released yet and my doc had instructed the doc doing the IUI to give me a trigger if I did have a surge. I did not get the trigger, but I was asked to come back for an IUI on Sunday which I did. The sono after the Sunday IUI showed that I did ovulate sometime between the two IUIs. I am PG now. This also happened late in the summer with 4 back to back IUIs and I got PG then too. Each person is different

Re: IUI ers
It CAN happen that quickly.
This month I went in on a Tuesday - they did an ultrasound and bloodwork and said that I probably wouldn't ovulate until Sunday.
Thursday morning I woke up and had my surge. I came in and the ultrasound showed my follicle was ripe at 23mm and my LH had, indeed, surged. The next morning I went in for another ultrasound and it showed my follicle collapsed so I O'd probably sometime Wednesday night.
If you're getting your surge, make sure you bring your DH's sample tomorrow for your first IUI!

That's the benefit of being with an RE! They track you so well that it takes most of the guesswork out of the process!
Yup, I'm still doing unmedicated, and will continue to do so for a few months. Some other ladies on here proved that it CAN be successful (i.e. Goldi!)

I asked my Doctor about it because I'm TERRIFIED of shots, I cannot imagine giving myself one.
She said it really all depends on what time they want you to administer the shot. If it's during working hours they can do it for you, after you picked up the meds from the pharmacy. Otherwise, you're on your own.
As for BDing - they say you should continue to BD to up your chances. For our first IUI cycle, which was this month, we BD'd on a Wednesday, had an IUI on Thursday and another IUI on Friday. I figured, with back to back IUI's, there was no point on BDing those days on top of it, which would only lower his sperm count anyway.

If there are ANY issues with your DH's count you should NOT baby dance before an IUI.
If his counts are fine I say go for it.

Yup. My RE wants me to come in on Friday for a PG test if I don't get AF by then.

There are no probs with my DH however; the RE did tell us to abstain for at least 24hrs prior to the IUI.

Re: IUI ers
I just wrote a long post and i guess i was inactive so hopefully this doesnt post twice- - - - just got back form my 1st natural IUI w/ Dr. Chu. She was really great, and I like her alot. it was a bit painful which i wasnt expecting but was over so quickly. so finger crossed.... anyway, yesterday at my sono dr said i have a few days til O but then i got my surge later that day. so today after IUI, she did sono and showed that the eggs were gone, so i guess that means they dropped. she said it seems to be good timing, since they were there yesterday am and gone this afternoon. do me a favor and just clear that up a bit for me... so when eggs are not visible, that means I o'd? I guess so...... she said I didnt need to come back for back to back b/c looks like timing was right........ a bit tired now but i just think it is from the anxiety of it all........

Beth - I understand more than you know about the fear! I'm the girl that used to pass out on the table in the middle of a PAP! However, with that said, last night I gave myself my first shot of Lupron as part of my IVF protocol. Granted, there were hours of procrastination (my house was VERY clean last night, and the cleaning lady came today!) and lots of hysterical sniveling, before, during and after, but I managed to do it, and didn't feel a thing! (probably because I iced my belly beyond numb!). Bottom line is, if this is the only way I'm going to join in the miracle of becoming a mommy, the prize totally outweighs the fear.
pjay - sorry to hijack! G/L in your 2WW! Sounds like you timed it just right!

Re: IUI ers
Glad that it went so well!! I also had some discomfort after my IUI. It went away after a day or 2.
