IUD and TTC
Sorry to crash, but I had a quick question for all u moms out there. Did anyone have an IUD and then have it removed to TTC?? I want to get one but I want to make sure its not going to hurt me in the long run.

I believe you cannot have an IUD (or most GYNs won't insert one) until you have had a live birth.

I don't know about all of them but the commercials for the Mirena say that a good candidate have already had a child

I have a friend who had an IUD for many years before TTC her first child and she got pregnant the same month she had it removed. No problems! But I've also heard the same thing, that not many would consider putting in an IUD until having at least one baby. I think it has to do with some risks related to scarring or infection.

I was told the same thing, but maybe it was just for the Mirena? Not sure.
On a side note, my cousin got pregnant while she had an IUD and so did one of my co-workers! Then again, my BFF had one for 3 years and it worked perfectly for her, she had it removed and started TTC & got pregnant the next month!

Most doctors will not give you an IUD unless you have already had a baby.
I got one after my second baby was born, and had it removed one year later to TTC # 3. Got PG first month.
